Strategy

Parkbud was started as an in-house pet project to showcase our skills in design, animation, and programming. A two-person team developed the app from the ground up over a period of weeks, carefully customizing every component, adding animation and sound to each interaction in order to elevate the app from merely a utility to an immersive experience.

To promote Parkbud, we developed an app website, demo video, and press materials, and deployed innovative marketing approaches to capitalize on social media and technology blogs.

Parkbud has continued to grow and transform as a product with a version 2.0 worldwide payment system launched in October 2011, and version 3.0 launched end of 2012 with continued media attention.

Result

Parkbud was launched in May 2011 with a great deal of fanfare. Apple chose Parkbud as App of the Week across Europe, and featured the app in every AppStore around the world.

Parkbud caught on fire with bloggers, chosen as App of the Day by Gizmodo and Lifehacker, App of the Week by Cult of Mac, Tipb, and App Boy, voted "Coolest app for iPhone", and featured in MacLife, ChipOnline, iPhone Welt, ComputerBild Magazine, and many others.

The Parkbud website had an equally large share of attention, and was featured on numerous web design blogs, online magazines, and won awards for best-looking mobile app website and demo.

In just a number of months, Parkbud had over 500,000 downloads . Parkbud is now the most recognized parking app worldwide and is celebrated by Apple in AppStore Essentials in over 80 countries and was voted by Apple as one of the Best Navigation Apps of the Year in 2011.
